Although some of what it offers like white water rafting isn't for young children it does offer an array of activities for the whole family.

Also you can visit Eskimo communities to learn more about their culture. All this can be done on your own although it's usually better with a local experienced tour guide to lead the way.

Alaska is so big that if your time is limited you'll want to choose just one region to explore. Also don't just consider visiting in the summer, winter is just as fun and with an average temperature of around 20 degrees Fahrenheit it's cold but not too cold with the right coat and gloves.
