Dinosaur Theme Birthday Party
Step 1 Cool Invitations
One way to create a Cool Dinosaur Birthday Theme Party Invitation is to start with a plastic egg. Like the eggs you'd use at Easter. Cut out an egg shaped piece of colored construction paper, not too big though as it'll be placed inside the egg. On the paper write out the party details fold it in two and place it in the egg. Next add a miniature plastic dinosaur or candy bones to the egg and hand them out. Of course don't add small candy to the eggs you may give to young children. Kids will love Dinosaur Egg Invitations.
Another fun way to make Dinosaur Birthday Invitations is to cut thick card stock in the shape of a dinosaur footprint. Thick so it's more like a fossil instead of paper. Write the guests name on one side and party details on the other. It's fun to be creative with the sayings on invitations. Using something like "Stomp on over to our cave for a Roaring Dinosaur Birthday Party".

And if time is scarce you can create cool looking Dinosaur Invites from various birthday card creating software packages.
Or you can buy great looking invitations for your Dinosaur Birthday Party online. A Great Example would be this Dinosaur Party Invitation pictured on the right. There are also matching Dinosaur Thank You Cards, Cups, Plates and more that have the same dinosaur theme. Click on the image to find out more.
Step 2 Dinosaur Party Decorations
Buy a bag of BIG Balloons and after blowing them up, turn them upside down and draw dinosaur faces on them. Then hang them from the ceiling. Cut out LARGE dinosaur prints from brown construction paper or posterboard and place them on the walls or as footprints on the floor. And don't forget about adding GIANT SIZED Dino Bones around the house also.
If you want a neat Dinosaur decoration check out this Dinosaur Mask. You get them in packs of 4 so those can be placed around the home and used later during the birthday party or as party favors for the kids.
And don't forget about buying mini dinosaurs at the store. They usually come in plastic bags with a variety of dinosaurs. Those could be placed all around the home and the table. You could even use them on your cake.
Step 3 Dinosaur Birthday Party Supplies
At Pinatas.Com you'll find some great looking Dinosaur Party Supplies for your Dinosaur Birthday Theme and you don't even need to leave your home! Think of the stress relief and money you'll save on gas by not having to drive from store to store. Just type in "Dinosaur" on their home page search bar!
Step 4 Arrival To Departure Food/Snacks & Drinks
|
A few simple things you may find that add to your party are dinosaur gummy fruit snacks. If you can't find those around then substitute them with gummy worms, kids will love those.
A fun dish kids tend to enjoy yet a little messy is gummy worms in sand. For the sand you'd use Oreo Cookies crumbled up and then scatter the gummy worms throughout. It's easiest to use a rectangular cake pan for this concoction and make two if possible.
If you can find a bone shaped cookie cutter you'll be able to create a lot of fun snacks. From peanut butter and jelly bone shaped sandwiches to actually making cookies. You could even let the kids decorate the cookies as part of the dinosaur party.
Also there are dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets you can buy at the store. If not at the local grocery store try a store like Sam's Club or Costco. If you can still find green ketchup that would be an awesome addition to the nuggets.
For healthy snacks you can arrange an assortment of celery sticks, broccoli and carrot sticks on a platter and make it look prehistoric. Lay them out as if they're ready to be eaten by dinosaurs. What really looks neat is when you can stand them up making it look like a mini-forest and place mini-plastic dinosaurs around them.
Lastly dont forget the fruit! Mini fruit skewers are usually a hit. Chop up bananas, apples and your favorite fruit and add them onto toothpicks. Usually 3 per toothpick is good enough, like a grape, apple and banana slice.
Dinosaur Party Drinks can pretty much be anything that has a fun color and taste to it. The most important thing about the drinks are the cool "Dinosaur" names you give them. Various colors of juice are best but you could also add colored pops and hot chocolate in winter. For example "Hot Chocolate W/Marshmallows" = "Swamp Mud".
Step 5 Dinner/Ice Breaker Game
A fun way to work up appetites is to play a "bone hunter" game. You can either make cutouts of dinosaur bones from cardstock or buy fake bones. If it's around Halloween it's easier to find fake bones but any other time of year you may want to check in the pet department for dog toys. Hide them around the yard or inside and have the kids hunt for the bones. Say each child is allowed to find only two bones and number the bones too. If you have 10 bones label then 1-10. After all the bones are found let the kids choose a gift/present or mini-dinosaur to keep. The person who finds the #1 labeled bone picks first and go in order from there. Don't tell them beforehand that they'll pick presents or many will skip the higher numbered bones.

Step 6 Theme Dinner/Food Ideas & Desserts
|
Some popular dinosaur names: Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Triceratops , Tyrannosaurus rex, Giganotosaurus.
Desserts
Step 7 Theme Drinks
Most flavors come in both sweetened and unsweetened form. All you need to do is stir up a pitcher and label it something else. For example call the Strawberry, "T-Rex's Strawberry Stomp Juice". Or call the cherry flavor "Lava Juice". Kids will drink them up.

What's a dinosaur party without some fun Dinosaur Birthday Party Games!
A fun and simple game to play either outside or in is a Dinosaur Egg Hunt. Simply color eggs as you would during Easter or buy plastic eggs. Hide them around the yard/room and let the kids find them. You can add treats or dinosaur stickers/mini-dinosaurs to the plastic eggs.Another fun game/activity is to create an excavation site for kids to dig up goodies. If you have a place for kids to dig like a sand box or safe area of the yard then you can hide things under the dirt for them to dig up. If you dont have a place you can always buy a small plastic pool or blowup pool and add sand. Items they can dig up could be plastic bones, plastic dinosaurs, old pennies, die cast cars and so on. Make a list of objects to find like a treasure hunt. Kids will love this activity. You could also give a prize to the person who finds the biggest bone.
A third easy to create game is Pin The Tail On T-Rex. Either draw a picture of your own or purchase a T-Rex picture and make a tail. Blindfold each player and let them try to pin the tail on T-Rex. But instead of using a pushpin you could use a magnet and have the T-Rex picture on the fridge or magnetic whiteboard. Then all you'll need to do is glue a magnet to the back of the tail so it'll stick to the fridge.

And the best pinata to use at a Dinosaur Birthday Theme Party is a Dinosaur Pinata. There are eleven different kinds of dinosaur pinatas found on Pinatas.Com. You're sure to find more than one the kids will love!
Step 10 Parting Gifts/Party Favors
For example a bag of jellybeans that are labeled "Dinosaur Eggs" and so on.
Now if you don't have some party bags already you'll want to get some and this package of "Dino Treat Bags" will hold your party favors.
To go in the Dino Treat Bag you could add a pack of these Dinosaur sticker sheets. Lastly these Dinosaur Temporary Tattoos would be a fun party favor also.
Step 11 Thank You Cards
You can create them yourself using a dinosaur footprint, egg or dinosaur cutout and then add their name on front with a personal thank you on the back. You could write something like the following:
|
Just be creative with the wording and sit down and make creative thank you cards with your kids, they'll be glad you did.
Or once again here is a nice Dinosaur Themed Thank You Card that each child would enjoy receiving. A great way to say thanks while keeping within your Dinosaur Theme!
