Fun Games And Group Activities For Kids In Groups Of Four Or More
Water Balloon Burst
Game Set Up - Medium sized balloons filled with water and some string to hang them from a tree branch.
Game Play - This is a great group game for summertime and for summer birthday parties. Since this is a water balloon game it's better to play outside of course. What you do is hang three or four water balloons from tree branches that are within reach of a stick. Then you blindfold each player one at a time and spin them around 3 times and let them swing the stick to see if they can break the balloon and have all the water come pouring down on them, whoever breaks the balloons wins. On a hot day this is a game that groups of kids will love. For summer birthday parties you can make it a little more fun by adding a bingo chip to the inside of the water balloon before filling it up. Whoever bursts the balloon with the "red" bingo chip wins an extra prize.

Plastic Easter Egg Hunt
Game Set Up - You'll need some plastic Easter Eggs, usually two or three dozen will suffice and pieces of candy or bingo markers that represent prize levels.
Game Play - Everyone loves an old fashioned Easter Egg hunt on Easter. Using hard boiled eggs is still very fun but plastic eggs are easier to care for, cheaper and you can add goodies to the inside. Besides adding little pieces of candy inside the plastic Easter Eggs you can add a colored bingo marker. You should use various colors having each color represent a prize level. Then have a bucket or a place where the kids can choose from various prizes of each colored bingo chip. For example a blue bingo chip would be for full size candy bars. So you'd have a bucket of various candy bars that blue chip finders can choose from. Of course make sure you have enough candy for the amount of blue chips in the eggs. Prizes don't have to be extravagant either, you can use plastic toys, candy bars, fun erasers, pencils and so on. Also it's always fun to have one bingo chip that wins a grand prize and make sure you hide that one the best. And just tell the kids that there is one special bingo chip that gets a big prize and don't tell them which color it is until all the eggs have been found. Now I've been talking about adding colored bingo chips inside the eggs but you can do the same thing with the eggs themselves as long as you have a variety of different colored eggs. Then just add candy to the inside of them as a bonus treat.

Blindfold Drawing Game
Game Set Up - You'll need blindfolds for as many players as there are plus pencils and paper for each player. Or this game can be played in a dark room without blindfolds.
Game Play - A fun game especially during vacation at the cottage or on a school trip. Basically one person is designated "storyteller" and the rest of the players must then blindfold themselves. The "Storyteller" will tell a short and descriptive story about anything they want pausing after inserting an object or person into the story and having the blindfolded players draw that object or person on their paper. It's usually best to have them draw no more than 10 things, 5 being best. For example a story could go something like this. Today the sun was shining. (each person draw a sun) So I decided to fly a kite (each person draw someone flying a kite) While flying the kite in the park I saw a big oak tree. (each person draw an oak tree) In the tree I saw a squirrel. (each person draw a squirrel) After the story is done everyone takes off their blindfolds and then votes on the best drawing.

Duck Duck Goose
Game Set Up - Nothing needed except for a group of children and large enough flat space for forming a circle with the children sitting on the ground. Plus you'll need enough space to run around on the outside of the circle. .
Game Play - One player is chosen as the starter who is standing behind the circle of kids sitting in a circle on the ground. The starter player taps each child and says "duck, duck, duck, duck", when the started taps a child and says "GOOSE", the starter then tries to run around the circle as the chosen goose must quickly stand and chases after the starter trying to tag the starter BEFORE the starter rounds around the circle and sits down in the chosen goose's spot. If the starter succeeds and makes it to the gooses spot before being tagged then the goose is now the new starter. Otherwise if the started is tagged by the goose then the goose sits back down in their original spot and the starter starts the game once again by taping each player and saying "duck, duck, duck, goose".

Hot Potato
Game Set Up - Traditionally you need a potato or anything you can pass from person to person and a radio. Turning it into an outdoor game, you could use a football or rubber ball etc. And instead of standing close to each other and handing it from one person to the next, stand five feet apart or a safe distance, still in a circle and toss the ball around until the music stops. If it's out of your hands when it's in the air then the person who catches it next is out.
Game Play - When the music starts you pass the potato/object from person to person and when the music stops whoever is holding the potato/object is out of the game. On and on it goes until nobody is left. If you don't have a radio you can have someone sing a song and then all the people who are out of the game can join in on the song. The game continues until there is only one person left. The Winner!

Household Scavenger Hunt
Game Set Up - You'll need a pen and paper to make a list of objects to find for each person/group. If it's done in a home it's fun to make players find one object in major rooms in the home like the kitchen, bathroom, living room, basement etc. This gets kids going up and down stairs and can be a pretty exciting game.
Game Play - The first person/team to find all the objects on the scavenger hunt list is the winning player/team. You can make this a timed game and then the team with the most objects found is the winner within the allotted time period. For example 15 minutes. Adding time as a factor really makes the game fun for kids.

Last Balloon Standing
Game Set Up - You'll need medium to large balloons and some string. For this game you'll also need a decent amount of space. Large basements are great for this game.
Game Play - You blow up the balloons and then tie one to each player's leg or one on each leg for double the chances of winning. When someone yells "Go" then each person tries to pop the others balloons by stepping on them. The person with the "Last Balloon Standing" is the winner.

Melt The Cube
Game Set Up - Ice Cubes
Game Play - This game is good for summer and winter. Of course in the winter it must be played indoors or the ice cubes will never melt. This can be an individual game or team game, although in teams this game is more fun. The object of the game is simple; the first team to melt their ice cube wins the game. But there are rules. No player can handle the ice cube more than 5 seconds and then must pass it to another team member. Also you're not allowed to drop the ice cube on the ground or put it in your mouth. You can rub them; hold them up towards the sun or breath on them, just do whatever works best. When you cube is totally gone you yell "Ice Melt"!

Obstacle Course Race
Game Set Up - Various materials needed, depends on whether you're playing indoors or outdoors.
Game Play - Kids of all ages love obstacle course races. It's fun to race side by side but then you'll need to create two obstacle courses that are identical. So it's usually more practical to make this a timed obstacle course race. The person or team that completes the obstacle course the fastest wins the game. If you're playing outdoors at a park you can set up the obstacle course using swings, slides and such. For example: First run to the slide and slide down twice, then to the swings and do three big swings, next crawl through the tunnel and race around the big oak tree and finally make one pass across the monkey bars and run to the finish line. If you're playing indoors you can really get creative and again it's another fun birthday game. You can set it up between two rooms or on separate sides of a room and this works best in a large open area like a basement. First eat five chips, next drink a cup of water then cross the room and make two baskets from 5 feet away into the trash can, pop a balloon by stepping on it and so on
The person or team that has the fastest time or combined fastest times is the winner.

Pass The Present Game
Game Set Up - Small box with gift inside and at least 10 sheets of different colored wrapping paper or newspaper will work. Tape and a radio.
Game Play - First someone wraps up the box in many layers of wrapping paper. Everyone sits in a circle with one person holding the present. Start the music and pass the present around. When the music is stopped the person holding the present opens one layer or wrapping paper. Then start the music again, you keep doing this until the last layer is unwrapped and whoever unwraps the last layer gets to keep the present inside. This game is fun for indoors with groups of kids of 4 or more and great for birthday parties and more.

Scavenger Hunt
Game Set Up - You'll need a pen and paper to make a list of objects to find for each person/group. In the outdoor game version you'll want to list items for individuals or teams to find that are of course found in the outdoors. For example: Leaves, Acorns, Worms, Rocks, Grass, Clovers and whatever else you can come up with depending on where you're playing the game.
Game Play - The first team to find all the object on the scavenger hunt list is the winning team. You can make this a timed game and then the team with the most objects found is the winner within the allotted time period. For example 15 minutes. Adding time as a factor really makes the game fun for kids.

Team Treasure Hunt
Game Set Up - You'll have to write out clues on pieces of paper for everyone to find.
Game Play - This group game is great for kids and adults and for just about any type of party. Depending on the occasion a Treasure Hunt always seems to be a lot of fun as long as the clues aren't too hard. Also you'll want to have at least 5 different clues and probably no more than 10 or the game could go on for too long and kids will start to get bored. Whether indoors or out a fun way to play this game is to pair up players and give them a time limit to find the treasure. To play you write down 5 or more different clues that will lead the players to another place where they'll find the next clue. For example if you're playing with kids the first clue could be: Clue 1 Even though I'm too loud sometimes, you still watch me. Of course this is the TV and when they go to the TV they'll find a second clue. Clue 2 When you open my door I turn on the light for you. This is the refrigerator and this is where the second clue is hiding. Now if your playing it with a time limit then you can't let the other teams see where each team is going. This game works great if you have a basement so you can have the other teams wait and play in the basement as each group searches upstairs or vise/versa.

Up For Auction
Game Set Up - You'll need wrapping paper or news paper, scissors, tape, (boxes), fake money, poker chips or candy to be used as money and of course small presents/gifts/party favors for each player.
Game Play - This game is played just like how an auction takes place. The host will prepare enough gifts for everyone who will be playing by wrapping them in paper and different sized boxes or shapes. This is so each player/bidder doesn't know exactly what's in the box. So in this game the biggest box doesn't mean the best box. Next each player is given a certain amount of money/candy to use for the bidding; usually 25 pieces of candy each will suffice. When each player is ready the auction starts and whoever bids the most pieces of candy/fake money wins the gift.
