One Of The Best Board Games Then & Now
The Sorry Board Game!

The Sorry Board Game has been around since 1934 and is still going strong. It's as fun today as it was way back then. It's the perfect family game for vacations, rainy days and on family fun nights!

A Classic Game That Has It All!

The Sorry Board Game has it all. It has strategy, luck, excitement and it's even educational. Kids love the thrill of getting their game pieces from start to home and parents love it just as much. The thing is, the Sorry Board Game puts kids and parents on an even playing field. So watch out parents this game is one where kids do show no mercy when it comes to winning!

So What's The Game About

The game is about getting your 4 game pieces from your starting point to your home base by going around the game board. You can play with up to four players so whichever player succeeds in getting their 4 game pieces home first wins the game!

The Sorry Board Game is very basic and straightforward and that is part of the attraction for kids. Still there are elements of strategy that must be used in order to win. And at first many kids are a little timid when implementing strategy that puts them ahead of other players but as soon as they get a grasp on the game concept watch out.

*More Specifically

The Sorry Board Game uses a mixture of luck and strategy to level the playing field. The luck aspect is getting around the board without being sent back to your home base by opponents. The strategy part is sending your opponents back to their home base when you get the chance.

You draw cards instead of using dice to move your game pieces around the game board. If your game piece lands on a space occupied by another players piece that other player's piece is sent back to their starting point. That is the basic idea of the game Sorry; you just say "Sorry" and send their piece packing. Younger kids may have a hard time handling the fact that their piece must start over again but soon enough they'll be targeting opponents and having a blast.

There are various cards ranging from "move from start or move one space forward" to "move your game piece 11 spaces forward or switch with one opposing player's piece". This is where the educational and strategic thinking aspect comes into play.

Classic Fun That's Educational For Kids!

The Sorry Board Game is educational right from the start even for the youngest of players. From the 4 colors of blue, red, yellow and green to the playing cards with large numbers printed on them. You don't need to roll a dice, just pick a card and move that many spaces.

For the older kids aged 6 and up they will start learning strategy by playing this game. When a card says, "move one space or move a new piece from the starting point", they must decide which is more advantageous to them winning the game. Should they move one piece around the game board to safety before getting the other three started OR should the have all 4 pieces enter the game board as soon as possible. And with a "switch with another player" card should they switch with another player even if that helps the other player too?

This game also helps young kids deal with setbacks. Just think, their game piece is about to reach the safety zone and an opposing player knocks them back to start. That can really upset a young kid. They have to start all over and round the board once more. But by doing this they're learning that setbacks are only temporary and can be overcome. This is a great lesson they will take with them on their journey through life.

The Sorry Board Game is just a great game all around for family and friends to play at all age levels!

Other Versions

Sorry Board Game Disney

The Sorry Disney Board Game is played exactly the same as the original Sorry Game except for a few minor changes. Younger kids especially love this version of Sorry because it incorporates Disney characters right into the game.

For example the different color game pieces of the original Sorry Game are now cardboard pieces in the shape of Disney characters. The blue pieces are Buzz Lightyear, Tarzan, Peter Pan and Hercules. The yellow pieces are Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel and Jessie the cowgirl from Toy Story. The green pieces are Winnie The Pooh, Dumbo, Simba and Bambi. The red pieces are Cruella, Hook, Hades and Malificent.

Kids not only enjoy the game of Sorry they can relate to it probably having seen most of the Disney Cartoons with those characters.

The cards do differ somewhat at times to the original Sorry Game. If you draw a card that has a blue number on it and you're the blue game pieces then depending on the card you may be able to send a player directly to home or move two players at the same time and so on. It's a nice twist to the game, an extra element of fun for kids and adults!

Sorry Card Revenge Game

A twist on the original Sorry Board Game because there is no "game board". Each player has their own mini board circle and 4 game pieces. Instead of going around a board you're holding 5 cards. Each time you rid yourself of the 5 cards you place a game piece in your circle. When you've done this 4 times you're the winner. So each time you get rid of the 5 cards you select 5 new cards and continue.

It's sort of like Uno actually. One catch with this game is that there is a giant talking game piece in the middle of the players that dictates the game. If you're not able to discard/play a card then you must press on the giant game piece and it tells you what to do. It may make you pick up 3 more or even 8 more cards.

You get rid of cards by either laying down a matching card color on top of the first laid card or you can change the color by laying down a sequential ordered card. For example if there is a red 6 laid down you can lay down a blue 7 if you don't have any red cards left.

There are other twists and turns to this game but overall it's a nice change from the original game. And the talking game piece talks a lot which most people find funny and it even makes the game more enjoyable.

Library Bookshelf Sorry Game

It's the original Sorry Board Game but it's nicely packaged into this Library Bookshelf Edition. It keeps the game safe and sound for years of Sorry Game play!

Sorry Nostalgia Tin

Again the same great family game but comes in a special Nostalgia Tin Box and the game board looks like a Vintage Sorry Game!

Sorry For The Computer

There are also Sorry Games for your computer from playing Sorry Online to the Sorry CD Rom you can have even more hours of fun playing Sorry on your home computer!

Also you'll find another version on Game Boy Advance. You child may like this version of Sorry if they have a Game Boy, it would be a great travel game.
